r é n is both a verb and a noun — it means 'humanity' and 'to be kind'. That's a combination at the heart of what we do. That, and food.

MISSION

Supporting disadvantaged young people in Hong Kong, we provide work opportunities in exclusive kitchens and beyond. Buying our products helps us continue this work. Think of it as items that embellish your table from napkins and candles to food that can truly nourish — because its impact goes way beyond the mouths that eat it.

ABOUT

Started in 2023, our social enterprise began as an idea from our founder Jo Soo-Tang. With the aim of supporting and nurturing disadvantaged young people in Hong Kong, she drew on contacts in the hospitality industry for a series of fundraising initiatives. But rather than just donate, the r é n community is active. Through our introductions, young people work in the city's most exclusive kitchens, giving them invaluable life experience. This goes beyond kitchens too - r é n has helped young people gain work across different industries, and transformed and empowered lives in the process.

IMPACT

Buying our products helps us continue this work - with the revenue from the sales channelled back into our community. Since food and cooking is one of our passions, r é n make high quality products delivered in drops across partner stores and pop-ups throughout the year.

HUMANITY (HUMANITY)

We provide career support to disadvantaged youths, where we dedicate resources to empower them to reach their full potential. We focus on compassionate learning, where we tackle the urgent need for youth job placement, career development, as well as employability training.

GOODNESS (OUTREACH)

We extend our goodness towards children, youths and individuals we support, from gifting birthday cakes every month, to meals and workshop activities, as well as sponsoring tutoring and scholarships. Through these activities and support we hope to give the individuals we support, regardless of their age and circumstances, the opportunity to explore new interests and hobbies, as well as to experience more life enjoyment. Because everyone deserves to see what the world has to offer.

FOOD (SOUL FOOD)

A core pillar of our model, we think food as something beyond nourishment for our bodies. We use food as a way to bring people together, to spread goodness and to share the joy we get from food with each other as a collective. We make high quality food and lifestyle activations delivered in drops across partner stores and pop-ups throughout the year, in which proceeds are channeled directly back to the community we support. Think of it as items that embellish your table from napkins and candles to food that can truly nourish — because its impact goes way beyond the mouths that eat it.
